When should you present your horse for the IBOP?
There are various situations in which you can or must present your horse (aged 4 years or older) for an IBOP test:
- Obtaining the Crown predicate: If you have a provisional Crown mare and wish to receive the CROWN predicate.
- Confirming the Model predicate: Model mares must pass the IBOP to make the predicate permanent.
- Improving breeding value: Breeders and owners often present their horse to obtain a performance predicate (A, AA, or AAA). This can increase the breeding value of the horse itself and its parents.
- Added value for Star predicate: presenting your horse for the IBOP can have added value if you want to present your horse for the Star predicate.
The jury assesses each part of the test and awards points. If your horse scores more than 77 points (with a pass mark for all parts), the IBOP is successfully completed.
