EU-gecertificeerd dekstation

EU-certified stud farm

EU-certified stud farm

Our stud farm features a modern, EU-certified breeding station that was completely renovated in 2013. This advanced facility enables us to freeze semen from our stallions and ship it worldwide. Instead of natural mating on site, we work with a reliable artificial insemination system. Specialised inseminators deliver the semen to your mare in specially equipped vehicles, ensuring that the quality is optimally preserved. A safe, hygienic and efficient solution for mare owners at home and abroad.

Specialist in Friese hengsten

With a rich bloodline

Specialist in Friesian stallions

Although our stud farm has housed various breeds in the past, we currently specialise in Friesian horses. This focus originated with the influential stallions Bjinse 241 and Lammert 260, a milestone in our history. Since then, De Nieuwe Heuvel has been known as one of the leading stud farms for Friesian horses. We have a wide selection of approved stud stallions with various bloodlines, so we can always offer a suitable match for your mare. Of course, we also care for other breeds with the same dedication.

My mare is in heat, when should I order semen?

When your mare is in heat, it is wise to call the vet first. The vet will examine the mare and determine the correct time for insemination.

I would like to order sperm, how do I do this?

If you live abroad, the ordering process is slightly different than for customers in the Netherlands.
We can ship semen to Germany from Monday to Friday. Shipping is overnight.
Example: If you order semen on Wednesday morning before 9:30 a.m., it will be delivered to you on Thursday morning.

For your first order, we require the following information:

Your billing address

The delivery address for the semen, including TRACES number

Details of the mare (name, life number, chip number)

Please send this information by email to: dekstation@denieuweheuvel.com

Which courier service do you use to send the semen?

We work with various courier services and check daily which courier can guarantee the fastest delivery.

What is a TRACES number and do I have to apply for one?

TRACES (TRAde Control and Expert System) is a European system for the traceability of animal transports.
Yes, if you wish to have semen delivered abroad, a valid TRACES number is required. This must be applied for before the first order – usually through your local veterinary office.

My mare did not become pregnant in the first cycle, what now?

It is not a problem at all if the mare did not become pregnant during her first heat. You can simply try again during her next heat.

My mare is pregnant. Do I need to notify Nieuwe Heuvel? Or the studbook?

We would like to hear whether the mare has become pregnant. We will then immediately report the covering to the studbook. Within a few months, this will also appear under “my coverings” on MIJNKFPS.nl. You do not need to do anything yourself. You can also register the foal here when the time comes.
