Breeding Terms conditions 2026

Conditions for insemination of your mare

  • The breeding season runs until 1 September 2026. Outside this period, please consult with us.
  • Semen from all stallions can be delivered throughout the country seven days a week. You can collect semen from us or have it sent to you at your own expense.
  • On Sundays, semen can be ordered until 9:30 a.m. It can be sent to you or collected from 11:00 a.m. onwards.
  • Hengstenstation De Nieuwe Heuvel accepts no liability whatsoever for damage, illness, EVA/CEM infection, injury to people, animals, means of transport or anything else. Conditions, etc. have been filed by the KWPN stallion owners’ association with the Chamber of Commerce in Utrecht.
  • By ordering and receiving the semen, the mare owner acknowledges our breeding and payment conditions and agrees to these conditions.

Coverage fees and barren mares

  • Exclusive of VAT, studbook and transfer fees.
    Gust reduction: We ask you to let us know before 1 October 2026 whether your mare has remained in heat. If your mare has remained in heat, you are entitled to a 50% reduction on the stud fee paid in 2026 for your stud service in 2027.
  • If stallions are unavailable this season for special reasons (competition, illness, injury, etc.), you may use another stallion from our station. The invoice will be based on the last stallion used.

Ordering semen

  • Sperm orders in the Netherlands must be placed before 9:15 a.m. via our telephone number 0318-483284 or via dekstation@denieuweheuvel.com.
  • For the first insemination, the correct details of the mare and owner must be provided. Any costs incurred by the studbook due to late submission of mare details and pregnancies are the responsibility of the mare owner.
  • If the semen is intended for embryo transfer/ICSI, this must be communicated to us when placing the first order.
  • If a mare owner attempts fraud, the unconditional fine is €5,000 (excluding 21% VAT) per case, in addition to the stud fee that is also due.

Veterinary supervision

  • The supervision at our covering station is provided by Dierenkliniek De Vijfsprong in Wekerom. You can bring your mare to our station 6 days a week. For mares brought to our station, there is a one-off fee of €205 (excluding VAT). This includes follicle checks and pregnancy testing up to 8 weeks after the last covering.
  • Additional veterinary costs and procedures are at the expense and risk of the owner. Mares for frozen semen are taken to De Vijfsprong Veterinary Clinic in Wekerom.
  • A frozen semen package costing €435 must be purchased here.
  • When delivering your mare to our station, the horse passport must be handed in at the office for as long as the mare is with us.
    Your mare must be healthy and in good condition upon delivery. If this is not the case, we may refuse to accept your mare at our facility.

Rent a box

  • Mare with foal €17,- per day excluding VAT
  • Mare without foal €13.50 per day excluding VAT

Regulations of the De Nieuwe Heuvel stud farm concerning ICSI.

If a breeder uses ET or ICSI, we initially charge €350 per mare. Upon pregnancy, you will receive an invoice for the remaining stud fee for that year. If multiple foals are born, we charge the stud fee per live foal (2nd and subsequent).

Ordering procedure for semen from abroad

  • Semen for export must be ordered one day in advance or before 9:00 a.m. on the same day. This can be done by calling us on +31 318-4833284, sending an email to dekstation@denieuweheuvel.com or filling in the form on our website.
  • All semen for export will be cleared by De Nieuwe Heuvel by a veterinarian from the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority. The clearance costs are borne by the mare owner.
  • If the semen is to be collected for export by the mare owner or their own courier service, it will also be cleared by the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority at all times.
  • In Germany/Belgium and France, we ship from Monday to Friday.
    We ship to the rest of Europe from Monday to Thursday. The shipping costs are for the mare owner.
    Shipments are at the risk of the mare owner.
  • De Nieuwe Heuvel determines how many tubes of semen are delivered. This is determined daily based on the number of orders per day for the stallion.
  • We do not ship outside the Netherlands on Saturdays and Sundays.

Packaging/containers

  • When shipping or collecting fresh semen, a suitable container owned by De Nieuwe Heuvel will be provided.
    Frozen semen will be delivered in a suitable container or mushroom owned by De Nieuwe Heuvel, or in your own container.
  • The De Nieuwe Heuvel container must be returned by and at the expense of the mare owner within 10 calendar days. From the tenth day onwards, a rental fee of €25 per day per container will be charged. This rental fee remains payable even upon eventual return.
  • The return date is always the day on which the container is returned to De Nieuwe Heuvel.
